The weather was great in Trier. It's a city at the boundary of Southwest Germany. Since the location is a little bit far from the main city of Germany, not many foreign visitors come here. However, it's still a nice city to go if you have time. Here, you can see some remains of Rome, like
| Trier Hbf |
| Porta Nigra, which you'll see walking along with the road straight ahead from Hbf |
| you can go up (ticket needed) to see the view of Trier, which I didn't. |
| the Markt |
| Dom (left), and Liebfrauenkirche (right) |
| Basilika |
| the garden in front of the Palace |
Soon, I walked through the town to get to Amphitheater. Although it may not as majestic as Colosseum in Rome, I was still impressed by it.
| entrance to underground |
| the original appearance was quite unbelievable!! It was a wall of the entrance and here's the highest place at that time. |
Walking backward from Amphitheater, you'll see Kaiserthermen. I couldn't imagine what it looked like before until I saw the model some archaeologists constructed.
| the underground was cold and dark and ....scary if you walk alone.... |
| It was the entrance to the building in ancient times. |
| Kaltbad, means cold bathing. |
| Now |
| Before |
If you have more time here in Trier, you can visit another remain similar to Kaiserthermen, the Barbarathermen.
| Barbarathermen, another remains in Trier |
| Alter Kranen, an old architecture adjacent to the river Mosel |
| I didn't know what's the statue was actually... |
| the view of Mosel along the railway leaving from Trier to Saalbrücke |
Trier is a good place for a half-day trip.
